MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Alabama State returns home for the first time in a week, starting a three-game homestand against UAPB Saturday afternoon at the Dunn-Oliver Acadome.
The Hornets tip at 4:30 pm Saturday against UAPB, and again at 8 pm Monday night against Mississippi Valley State. Both games can be seen on the Hornet Sports Network.
Alabama State (2-7, 2-7 SWAC) split the two games against this weekend's opponents on the road, falling to UAPB 91-82 the second weekend in January. In that game,
Kenny Strawbridge recorded his first career double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds, while
LaTrell Tate finished with 17 off the bench.
Brandon Battle chipped in with 11 in the loss.
Meanwhile, the Hornets picked up their first win of the season over Mississippi Valley State, 64-51, behind a second consecutive double-double from Strawbridge. He finished with 11 points and 11 rebounds, while
Kevion Stewart scored a then-career high 19 points on five three-pointers. Battle finished with eight points and nine rebounds.
Battle leads Alabama State averaging 10.2 points and seven rebounds, while Strawbridge averaged 10.1 points and 7.6 rebounds per game.
DJ Heath leads the team with 21 assists and 14 steals, while
Jordan O'Neal has blocked 15 shots.
Season tickets are currently on sale at the Alabama State Ticket Office by calling (334) 229-4551. There will be no single-game tickets sold or day of game sales, all tickets must be purchased prior to the day of the game to be admitted into the Dunn-Oliver Acadome. Also, Alabama State is a mask-mandatory campus and masks must be worn throughout the Dunn-Oliver Acadome for the entirety of the contest.
