MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Alabama State picked up a pair of victories during singles play, including the first career win by
Timothée Legaud, but it wasn't enough as Alabama State fell to in-state foe Troy 5-2 at the Olean Black Underwood Tennis Center Sunday afternoon.
Legaud picked up her first Division I victory at number six singles when she defeated Tijana Svitlica 6-2, 6-1 to pick up the second point of the day for the Lady Hornets. The first point came at number one where
Madalena Andrade picked up a 6-4, 6-3 victory over Troy's Metea Mihaljevic. In other singles' action, Alabama State dropped a pair of matches at number two and four after each dropped a break during play and lost identical 7-5 sets.
Alabama State (0-4) dropped the doubles' point but did get a win by the number two doubles team of
Bea Acena and
Urska Velec. The duo picked up 7-6 victory for the lone doubles' win of the day for Alabama State.
The Lady Hornets return to action Friday on the road in Mobile (Ala.) against South Alabama, with the match scheduled to begin at 1:30 pm.
