MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Alabama State fell behind early in the first half but battled back to win their home finale over Prairie View A&M 77-53 in Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) action Monday night at the Dunn-Oliver Acadome.
Prairie View led by as many as nine points in the first half before Alabama State battled back and extended the lead to as many as 28 in the second half. The Lady Hornets ended the night shooting 46.6 (27-for-58) percent from the floor and 42.1 (8-for-19) percent from beyond the arc. They also finished the night shooting just 55.6 (15-for-27) percent from the free throw line.
Jayla Crawford led Alabama State with 21 points, while
Shmya Ward recorded a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds. She also added five steals and three assists in the win, while
Ayana Emmanuel added 13 points.
Alabama State returns to action Thursday night on the road at Grambling State with just two regular season conference games remaining.
