MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Alabama State opened play at the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Pod Two with 5-0 victory over Grambling State to remain undefeated in conference play.
Alabama State picked up the doubles' point with wins at number one and number two doubles to take a 1-0 match lead. They were able to pick up two quick singles' points when
Madalena Andrade picked up a 6-1, 6-1 victory at number one, and
Francesca Duca picked up a 6-0, 6-0 victory at number four singles.
The Lady Hornets also picked up wins at number five when
Ana Tarbujaru defeated Natalie Malone 6-1, 7-6 at number five, while
Lizaveta Demchenko defeated Mikaila Coleman 6-0, 6-3 at number six singles to complete the shutout.
They return to action Saturday against Southern (2 pm) and Jackson State on Sunday (2 pm) to conclude conference play in the pod. No fans will be allowed inside the Olean Black Underwood Tennis Center. Alabama State University is a mask mandatory campus, including all of its athletic venues.
