VICKSBURG, Miss. | Alabama State got back on track following their first loss in conference play with a 4-0 victory over Alcorn State in Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) play Monday afternoon.
Alabama State (6-6, 6-1 SWAC) picked up the doubles point with wins at number two and three to pick up the first point of the match and go up 1-0. They would use a 6-1 victory at number two by
Madalena Andrade and
Francesca Duca, and then picked up a break at number three to win 7-5.
The Lady Hornets would pick up three singles' victories including the match-clinching win by
Bea Acena at five singles in straight sets (6-0, 6-2). They would also pick up wins at number four (Duca) and number six (
Ana Tarbujaru) to clinch the win.
Alabama State returns to action on the road Wednesday in non-conference action as they travel to Birmingham to face Samford.
