Hornets Roll Past Mobile in Final Tuneup Before SWAC Play

MONTGOMERY, Ala. | The Alabama State University women's basketball team led wire-to-wire to earn an 82-71 win over the University of Mobile on Monday at the Acadome.
 
Jayla Crawford led three Hornets in double figures with 23 points, 20 in the third quarter. Cordasia Harris followed with 20 and Shmya Ward added 15 points.

 HOW IT HAPPENED 
  • Cordasia Harris scored 12 points, and the Hornets shot 52 percent from the floor to hold a 26-18 lead at the end of the first quarter.
  • Alexys Newman's steal and layup gave the Hornets a 46-24 lead going into halftime. 
  • Alabama State shot 47 percent from the floor and outrebounded the Rams 26-16 in the first half. 
  • Jayla Crawford netted 20 points to hand the Hornets a 71-50 lead heading into the fourth quarter. 
  • The Hornets led 82-57 before 4:50 left in the game before Mobile went on a 14-0 run to cut the final deficit to 82-71
