MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Alabama State fell behind early, giving up a run in the first inning before battling back to tie the contest in the bottom of the seventh, only to fall to ULM in extra innings 4-1 at the Barbara Williams Softball Complex.

Bailey Greenlee (Snohomish, Wash.) scattered seven hits in eight innings of work, allowing four runs (three earned), while striking out five in the loss. Greenlee (4-6) allowed one run in the first inning and then nothing else over the next six innings until ULM (13-4) was able to get three across in the eighth.
Alabama State (7-9) was held to just four hits but a timely hit by Alex Preston (Stockton, Calif.) tied the game in the bottom of the seventh when she doubled home the tying run.

The Hornets return to action this weekend when they host their third tournament of the season beginning on Friday morning. Tickets are available by calling the ticket office at (334) 229-4551 or by purchasing at the gate on the day of the game.

How It Happened

• T1 | ULM got on the board after a ball hit to center got in the sun and past outfielder Madison Myers (Brownsville, Tenn.) for the first run of the game (1-0, ULM).
• B7 | Preston doubled to right center as the ball got down and rolled all the way to the fence to tie things up and send the game to extra innings (1-1).
• T8 | Madison Blount singled through the left side to drive home a pair of runs, before Korie Kreps singled up the middle for the final margin (4-1, ULM).

Postgame Notes

• Greenlee pitched her team-leading fifth complete game of the season in the loss, finishing with a 2.86 earned run average and a 1.14 WHIP.
• Preston connected on her fifth double of the season, driving in her sixth run on the game-tying hit in the seventh inning.
