MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Alabama State returns home for their final regular season home stand with a pair of games beginning Thursday night against Southern inside the Dunn-Oliver Acadome.

Alabama State (12-13, 11-5 SWAC) and Southern met earlier this year in Baton Rouge with the Hornets winning 61-58 in the final seconds. The two teams are currently tied with Alabama A&M for second in the conference standings, one game ahead of Texas Southern, with the conference tournament looming next week.

The game tips at 5:30 pm on Thursday and will be followed by a game against Grambling State on Saturday at 2 pm in which the Hornets will honor their senior class. The COVID-19 testing procedures have been waived for the final two home games, and tickets can be purchased at the Acadome.

• Alabama State and Southern are currently tied with Alabama A&M for the second spot in the conference standings, with all three times playing each other. Meanwhile, Grambling State is sitting just two games with two games remaining against the Hornets and Alabama A&M.
• Ayana Emmanuel (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.), last week's SWAC Player of the Week, is third in the conference in scoring and has averaged 29.6 points per game over the last five games, including 41 against Bethune-Cookman (2/21) and 36 against Alabama A&M (2/26).
• The win over Southern this season ignited a five-game winning streak for Alabama State that was ended this past weekend against Alabama A&M.
• Shmya Ward (Memphis, Tenn.) is the only other player averaging in double figures for the Hornets at 12.3 points per game.
