Men's Tennis Falls on the Road 6-1 to Georgia Tech

ATLANTA, Ga. | In the team's second road test of the season, the Alabama State men's tennis team fell 6-1 to the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets on Sunday afternoon (Jan. 22) inside Ken Byers Tennis Complex.

DOUBLES PLAY

In the first doubles match of the day, the duo of David Jeanne Grandinot and Samrakshyak Bajracharya lost 6-1 to Andres Martin and Marcus McDaniel while Ruan Du Preez and Juan Rodriguez also fell 6-1 to Keshav Chopra and Elias Shokry.

SINGLES PLAY

Ruan Du Preez opened up singles play for the Hornets but dropped his match 6-0, 6-3 to Marcus McDaniel. In the second singles match of the day, David Jeanne Grandinot fell 6-4, 6-1 to Andres Martin followed by Matis Amier coming up short to Rohan Sachdev 6-4, 6-2. Samrakshyak Bajracharya dropped his singles point 6-2, 6-3 to Keshav Chopra.

Kristofer Johnson was the lone Hornet to see success today as he won 7-5, 6-4 over Brandon McKinney. Alexandre Verlaguet finished the day with a 6-4, 7-5 loss to Elias Shokry.

The Alabama State men's returns to action on Friday (Jan. 27) as they head to Birmingham, Alabama to face the Samford Bulldogs at 3 p.m.
