MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Alabama State heads north up I-65 for three games in Birmingham this week, beginning with Samford on Wednesday night.
Alabama State (1-3) and Samford (2-2) tip off at 6:30 p.m. on ESPN+, with the game also being carried on the Hornet Sports Network. The Bulldogs come in after winning a pair of games in a row over Mississippi College and South Carolina State, while Alabama State enters after a road loss to Memphis on Friday night.
The Hornets will also face North Carolina A&T on Friday, followed by Merrimack on Saturday with all three games played at the Pete Hanna Center.
Alabama State and Samford have met six times with the Hornets leading the series 4-2, including winning the last meeting 74-64 [12/8/21]. The Hornets and North Carolina A&T have met nine times in school history with Alabama State leading 5-4, including a 76-42 [11/22/03].

- Alabama State currently ranks in the top 10 in the nation in a pair of rebounding categories including Rebounds per Game where they are ranked ninth at 48.00. They are currently seventh in the nation in offensive rebounds per game at 18.00.
- The Hornets have gotten off to a fast start this season in fastbreak points, averaging 19.50 points per game which is good for second in the conference and 19th in the nation. Alabama State is currently 54th in the nation steals per game at 9.5.
- The Hornets are set for three games over the next four days with a day in between against Samford [4-2], North Carolina A&T [5-4], and Merrimack. They last played Samford during the 2021-22 season and North Carolina A&T during the 2003-04 season.
