MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Alabama State returns home for the first time in 19 days when it takes on MUW on Sunday, Dec. 3 inside the Dunn-Oliver Acadome.
 
The game tips at 3 pm.
 
Alabama State (3-4) enters the game after back-to-back wins over North Carolina A&T and Merrimack last week in Birmingham. The Hornets' junior guard TJ Madlock earned Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Player of the Week honors for his performance that week, averaging 15 points per game in a three-game span, including matching his career-high with 25 points against North Carolina A&T.
 
Meanwhile, MUW (3-2) enters the contest after splitting its last two games against Huntingdon and Dallas College last week.

Alabama State Notes
  • Kendal Parker and Ubong Okon turned in career performances against Merrimack on Saturday in the win. Parker finished with 12 points to top his previous mark of 11 last season against UAPB, while Okon finished with a career-high eight points and 10 rebounds.
  • Isaiah Range returned to the floor last week for the first time in the regular season since his injury late last year. He scored 28 points in his first two games back against Samford and North Carolina A&T.
  • Range and Madlock are closing in on career milestones just seven games into the season with Range at 905 career points and Madlock at 855.
  • CJ Hines has scored in double figures in all seven games this season after scoring 40 over three games last week in Birmingham. He is also averaging 4.0 assists per game over that same span.
  • The Hornets are currently 44th in the nation in fastbreak points.
  • The game this Sunday is the only game on that day all season for the Hornets.
MUW Notes
  • Senior forward Brye Hopkins – a culinary arts major – is cooking up another good season so far. A USCAA All-American last year. Thus far in 2023-24, Hopkins is averaging 12.8 points, 7.4 rebounds, 1.3 assists, and 1.1 assists per game, all while shooting nearly 57 percent from the field.
  • In the Owls' first win of 2023-24 versus Trinity [11/17], senior Dariun Doss came off the bench to tally his first career double-double with career highs of 19 points and 14 rebounds.
  • In his first five appearances, all off the bench, freshman Adin Johnson is shooting 48 percent [11/23] from three-point range.
  • MUW is giving up 15.6 points per game on turnovers, it is also scoring 15.6 points per game off of opponents' turnovers.
  • The Owls are being outrebounded by their opponents by 9.2 rebounds per game.
