MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Alabama State closes out its pre-Christmas schedule on Friday, Dec. 22, with a tip east to Neville Arena to face Auburn, with a 7 p.m. tip-off.

Alabama State (4-6) and Auburn (8-2) have met five times in school history with Auburn winning each contest – all played in Auburn. The last time the two met was 14 years ago to the day on Dec. 22, 2009, when Auburn won 94-78. The series has seen its share of close games as Alabama State dropped a 63-60 contest in 2007 and fell 77-72 in 2008.

TJ Madlock leads Alabama State in scoring heading into the Friday night contest, averaging 16.2 points per game.

Alabama State Notes
- Ubong Okon is currently fourth in the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) in rebounds at 6.6 per game including a pair of double-digit games. The sophomore center grabbed a career-high 14 rebounds against LSU, with nine offensive boards, on Dec. 13 on the road.
- Madlock is currently sixth in the conference in scoring, while Hines is tied for 17th in scoring and is fourth in assists. Madlock is ninth in the conference in field goal percentage.
- Head coach Tony Madlock will be on the opposite bench of where he spent time as an assistant coach on Friday night. Madlock was an assistant coach for Auburn from 2010-14.
- Alabama State has faced several teams in its rich basketball history from the SEC including LSU and Ole Miss this season. The Hornets have faced Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi State, Missouri, and Vanderbilt.
- Tonight's game will be the third road game against an SEC opponent this season for the Hornets and will be one of just two non-conference road games remaining. The Hornets travel to Tampa on Dec. 29 to face South Florida to close out the non-conference road schedule.
Auburn Notes
- Auburn is receiving votes in both, the Associated Press and USA Today Coaches Poll, this week.
- The Tigers ran their streak of non-conference wins at home to 49 after a 91-75 victory over USC on Sunday, Dec. 17, and have won three consecutive games.
- Auburn sold out Neville Arena on Sunday (9,121 fans), the 43rd consecutive sellout at the arena.
- Auburn has led at halftime in all but one game this season. They are 6-1 on the season when leading at halftime.
- Each of the Tigers' eight wins this season have come by at least 15 points and have been by an average of 21.5 points.
- Auburn recorded just eight turnovers against USC on Sunday, the fourth time in the last five games it has recorded single-digit turnovers. They also scored 42 points in the paint against USC, the fifth time in the last six games they have scored 40-plus points in the paint.
