BATON ROUGE, La. – The Alabama State University women's softball team used an eight-run second inning and made it hold to claim a 9-6 win over Arlington Baptist on day two of the Mardi Gras Classic on Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED - ABU
- Alabama State scored a run in the top of the first on a Brooke Ramsey RBI single.
- Arlington Baptist answered with a two-run bottom of the first to take a 2-1 lead.
- The Lady Hornets pushed eight runs across to erase the deficit in the top of the second.
- Leah Richardson had an RBI single and Alana Scott singled home two runs. Kindall DeRamus drew a bases-loaded walk to plate another run in the second.
- Arlington Baptist rallied for three runs in the sixth and a run in the seventh.
- ABU had two runners on base in the seventh before a fly out to left ended the game.
IN THE CIRCLE - ABU
- Olivia Brown (1-0) worked 3.1 innings to get the win in the circle, allowing two runs on one hit with three strikeouts and three walks.
- Abby Sullivan gave up eight runs on seven hits with a strikeout to take the loss for Arlington Baptist.
INSIDE THE BOX - ABU
- Kiana Parrish had three hits including a double and run scored for the Lady Hornets.
- Scott had two hits and two RBI.
- Alexa Preson drove in a pair of runs on one hit.
- DeRamus, Brooke Ramsey, and Leah Richards drove in one run apiece.
