TALLAHASSEE, Fla. | Alabama State University scored three runs in the top of the ninth to take an 11-8 win in extra innings over Florida A&M University on Sunday morning at the FAMU Softball Complex.
The game was suspended on Saturday due to lightning and resumed Sunday morning to close out a doubleheader.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Alex Preston hit a three-run home run to give the Lady Hornets a 3-0 lead in the first inning.
- Alexia Denby had an RBI single, and Jasmine Rogers got a run home with a sacrifice fly to make the score 3-0 in the third inning.
- MelKayla Ervis stole home on a double steal to trim the ASU lead to 5-1 in the bottom of the third.
- Preston doubled in two runs and Lauryn Maher had an RBI single to extend the lead to 8-1 in the top of the fourth.
- Florida A&M cut the ASU lead to 8-6, scoring two runs in the fourth and three runs in the fifth.
- Jania Davis doubled in two runs to tie the game 8-8 in the bottom of the seventh and force extra innings.
- Alabama State scored three runs in the ninth to take an 11-9 lead. DeRaumus singled home Jaeda Gardner and later scored on a Brooke Ramsey single. Ramsey scored on an error on an Alana Scott single to centerfield.
- Bailee Greenlee sat the Rattlers down in order in the bottom of the ninth to close out the win.
IN THE CIRCLE
- Bailee Greenlee (12-8) tossed 1.2 scoreless innings with a pair of strikeouts to earn the win in relief of starter Oliva Brown.
- Nadia Zentano (7-7) allowed six runs on nine hits with a strikeout to suffer the loss for FAMU.
INSIDE THE BOX
- Mayer collected three hits as one of five Hornets with multiple hits.
- Preston went 2-for-6 with five RBI and two runs scored.
- DeRamus and Scott had two hits and an RBI apiece.
- Gardner added two hits and a run scored.
