MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Alabama State University grinded out a narrow 3-2 SWAC win over Jackson State University on Thursday at the Barbara Williams Softball Complex

HOW IT HAPPENED 
  • Alabama State claimed a 2-0 lead in the first inning.  
  • Kindall Deramus reached on an error and scored on an Aleixa Denby sacrifice fly. Madison Myers singled and scored on a Alex Preston single. 
  • The score remained 2-0 until the fourth when Jackson State struck for two runs on a Jalia Hubbard two-run single 
  • Jaeda Gardner's sac-fly scored pinch runner JaNiyah Boykin to give the Lady Hornets a 3-2 lead.  
IN THE CIRCLE   
  • Ashley Pye (4-4) tossed 5.0 innings, allowing two runs on three hits with two strikeouts to x 
  • Bailey Greenlee (3) whirled two scoreless innings with two strikeouts to pick up the save. 
  • Victoria Salazar (5-6) gave up three runs on seven hits with a strikeout to take the loss for the Tigers.
