@BamaStateSB Falls To Grambling State in SWAC Tournament

GULFPORT, Miss. | Lack of timely hits doomed Alabama State University softball in a 4-0 loss to Grambling State University in the second round of the SWAC Softball Tournament on Wednesday at the Gulfport Sportsplex.

HOW IT HAPPENED    
  • Alabama State put runners in scoring position in the first two innings but could not push a run across. 
  • Grambling State scored four times in the top of the fourth to break the scoreless tie and take a 4-0 lead.  
  • Anaiyah Fultz had an RBI single followed by two runs scoring bases loaded walks with the final run scored when India Wells reached on an fielder's choice.  
IN THE CIRCLE    
  • Ashley Pye (5-6) gave up four runs on two hits with five walks in 3.1 innings to suffer the loss for the Lady Hornets. 
  • Erin Gibbs (8-4) scattered seven hits with four strikeouts and one walk in 7.0 innings of work to earn the win. 
  • Bailey Grennlee and Oliva Brown combined to allow no runs on one hit with two strikeouts over the final 3.2 innings.
