MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Alabama State returns home after opening Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) play with a pair of road victories, hosting a pair of games beginning Thursday night at the Dunn-Oliver Acadome.

Alabama State (7-8, 2-0 SWAC), one of three teams to open with back-to-back wins on the opening weekend of conference play, hosts Jackson State (5-9, 1-0 SWAC) on Thursday with a 7:30 p.m. tip scheduled. They will also host Alcorn State on Saturday, Jan. 13, at 4 p.m. as part of a doubleheader.

The games are part of a three-game, five-day swing for Alabama State. The Hornets are 3-1 at home this season with the only loss coming to USC and have won their last two home openers in conference play dating back to the 2021-22 season.

TJ Madlock leads Alabama State in scoring through the first 15 games this season, averaging 15.1 points per game, and has scored in double figures in 14 of the 15 games. Meanwhile,
CJ Hines is averaging 11.3, and
Isaiah Range at 10.7 for the Hornets. Hines leads the team in assists at 3.0 per game, while
Ubong Okon is among the league leaders in rebounds (6.6) and blocked shots (1.0).

Alabama State Notes
- Range and Madlock continue to close in on career milestones entering the weekend with each closing in on 1,000 career points. Range stands at 990 career points, leaving him just 10 away from the mark, while Madlock sits at 970 leaving him 30 points shy of the milestone.
- Since being inserted into the starting lineup, Okon has grabbed 57 rebounds in seven games including a span of three games against LSU, USC, and Auburn where he grabbed 30 total.
- Micah Octave has recorded a steal in all 15 games this season including setting a career-high of three two different times.
- Sean Smith has played in all 15 games off the bench and has scored in all 15 of those including double figures in a road win over UAPB.
- Alabama State had five players score in double figures against UAPB marking the fourth time this season the Hornets have reached that mark. They are 3-1 in those games.
Jackson State Notes
- Three members of the coaching staff from the Tigers return to the Dunn-Oliver Acadome for the first time since departing following the 2021-22 season. Head coach Mo Williams, associate head coach Trey Johnson, and assistant coach Keith Williams all served on staff for two years for the Hornets.
- Jordan O'Neal and Jayme Mitchell both return for the first time since transferring to Jackson State. O'Neal averaged 7.4 points and 5.7 rebounds per game in three years, while Mitchell averaged 2.9 points and 1.3 rebounds per game.
- Ken Evans, Jr. leads Jackson State in scoring at 18.2 points and 5.3 rebounds per game, while O'Neal is at 11.6 points and 5.3 rebounds per game.
- The Tigers enter the contest after an 88-80 victory over Alcorn State and have won three of their last five.
Alcorn State Notes
- The Braves have won the last seven meetings between the two schools, including winning three in a row during that stretch at the Dunn-Oliver Acadome.
- Alcorn State has been off since Jan. 6 when they fell to Jackson State and will face Alabama A&M on Thursday night to kick off its road swing.
- Jeremiah Kendall leads three players in double figures for Alcorn State at 16.2 points per game and 6.9 rebounds per game.
- Byron Joshua is averaging 11.4 points per game and Jeremiah Gambrell at 11.1 for the Braves.
