MONTGOMERY, Ala.– Alabama State University women's basketball will open the 2024-25 season cross town foe Faulkner University at 6 P.M. on Monday night in the Dunn-Oliver Acadome.
This will be the Lady Hornets first home game to open the season since 2021-22. The matchup is the first of two home games to open the season that will be followed by a match up against NCAA Division II Stillman College out of Tuscaloosa, Ala., on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
Both matchups will be streamed on the hornetssports.com with live stats on bamastatesports.com.

The Series
Despite being located in the Montgomery, Ala., area, Alabama State and Faulkner have never played in the regular season.
Alabama State and Stillman will meet for he seventh time with the Lady Hornets owning a 6-2 record and a 3-1 mark at the Acadome. for
Lady Hornets Returnees
Cordasia Harris (C) led the Hornets in scoring and rebounding in 2023-24 with 12.5 points and 8.6 rebounds pe contest. Harris was named to the Preseason All-SWAC First Team.
Solangelei Arkridge (G) played 27 games and started the final 16 games of the season at guard. She averaged 5.7 points and 1.4 assists while shooting 77 percent from the from the free throw line.
Anaja Hall (C) garnered 12 starts in 27 games as a true freshman. Hall averaged 3.8 points, 2.2 rebounds and ranked ninth in the SWAS with 1.9 blocks per game (32 total).
Ryin Tillis (F) played in 29 games with 17 starts.
April Hooks (G) averaged 4.4 points and 1.2 rebounds over 27 games in her freshman season.
Justina Graham (F) saw paying time in 22 games, averaging 3.5 points and 1.8 rebounds.
Ashley Gray (G) played in 22 games with five starts, averaging two points and two rebounds per game.
Kristian Jackson played in 29 games with one start in 2024-25, averaging 2.8 points and 1.8 rebounds per game.
Camariyana Tavares (C) playing 13 games in freshman season.
Lady Hornets' Newcomers
Amari Franklin comes to ASU after two seasons at Bishop State CC. Franklin averaged 11.1 points, 3.5 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game as a sophomore.
Alanah Pooler (F) comes to ASU from powerhouse Shelton State CC, where she averaged 8.0 points and 5.3 rebounds over 32 games.
Kaitlyn Bryant (G) transferred to ASU from Chipola CC and hails from Opelika, Ala. Bryant played in 28 games with 20 starts, averaging 5.8 points and 3.5 rebounds as a sophomore. She also had 39 steals, 38 assists and shot 71 percent from the free throw line.
O'Mariyah Tucker (F) transferred to Alabama State from SWAC member Bethune-Cookman. Tucker played in 29 games with 18 starts, averaging six points and 4.5 rebounds per game in 2023-24.
Emani Wofford (G) transfers to Alabama State from Lawson State CC in Birmingham, Ala. Wofford played in 25 games with 22 starts, averaging 16.2 points and 4.9 rebound per game while shooting 41 percent from the floor.
Taylor Smith (G) is a transfer from rival Alabama A&M University where she appeared in 29 games with 21 starts as a junior. She averaged 5.7 points and 2.4 rebounds in 2023-24. Prior to AAMU, Smith played two seasons at Shelton State CC.
Samiah Puckett (F) transfers to Alabama State from East Tennessee State, where she played in 26 games as a true freshman. She scored 43 points and grabbed 42 rebounds and blocked three shots on the year.

2024-25 Lady Hornets Schedule
The 2024-25 slate includes 12 home match contests starting with the season opener on Monday,
Nov. 4, versus cross-town rival Faulkner University and Stillman College on Wednesday, Nov. 6. Both match ups will tip off at 6:00 p.m.
Following the opening weekend, the Lady Hornets will battle nine Power 4 schools on the road includes Mississippi State (Nov. 13), Virginia (Nov. 20), Ole Miss (Nov. 30), Oklahoma (Dec. 6), Oklahoma State (Dec. 8) Auburn (Dec. 21), and Florida (Dec. 28). The Lady Hornets will face two Power 4 schools in the Emerald Coast Classic on Dec. 24-26 in Detin, Fla.).
Alabama State hosts its final non-conference home game against the University of North Alabama on Wednesday, Dec. 18 at 6 p.m.
The SWAC schedule is equally demanding, with the Hornets facing traditional rivals Mississippi Valley State, Arkansas-Pine Bluff, Jackson State, and Alcorn State. The team will also compete in the Bridge Builders Classic against Alabama A&M in Mobile.
All home games will be played at the Dunn-Oliver Acadome in Montgomery, Ala. Single-home games start at 6 p.m., with doubleheader home games set for 1 p.m.
