ATLANTA, Ga. | The Alabama State Hornets were not able to record a run against Georgia Tech pitcher senior Chandler Dennis on Wednesday despite collecting five hits and were shut out 9-0 by the Yellow Jackets.
Freshman Ana Richiez (5-1) got the ball to start for Alabama State (18-23) and took the loss.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Alabama State did not advance a runner past second base in the game. The Hornets went 0-for-2 with runners in scoring position, last placing a runner as far as second in the second, when sophomore Brooke Ramsey made it into scoring position with nobody out.
GAME NOTES
» Alabama State pitchers faced 25 Georgia Tech hitters in the game, allowing four ground balls and five fly balls while striking out two.
» Freshman Kendall Smiley led the Hornets at the plate, going 2-for-3.
