Freshman Kendall Smiley went 1-for-3 with an RBI for the Alabama State Hornets in a 10-2 loss to the No. 18 Florida State Seminoles on Wednesday.
Junior Charity Bibbs (9-12) got the ball to start for Alabama State (21-24) and took the loss.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Hornets were trailing 3-0 in the second inning when they first put runs on the board. Alabama State got an RBI single from Smiley, scoring freshman Alora Bevily from third base.
The Seminoles expanded their lead to 5-1 before the Hornets offense got back to work, cutting into that lead in the fifth. Alabama State scored once on an RBI single off the bat of sophomore Alana Scott, which brought the score to 5-2 in favor of the Seminoles. The Hornets were unable to get any closer, as Florida State added five runs to their tally on the way to a 10-2 final.

Sophomore Madi Balk and senior Emma Wilson combined to toss a shutout on Wednesday as the No. 18 Florida State Seminoles blanked the Alabama State Hornets 8-0.
Freshman Ana Richiez (6-2) got the ball to start for Alabama State (21-25) and took the loss.
Offensively, the Hornets were paced by sophomore Alana Scott, who went 1-for-3 on the day.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Alabama State managed zero chances with runners on third in the shutout, going a total of 0-for-2 with runners in scoring position. The Hornets last got a runner on third in the second, when sophomore Brooke Ramsey made it 60 feet away from scoring with one out.
