Four Alabama State players notch multiple hits in 5-4 setback at Jackson State

JACKSON, Miss. -- Four Alabama State players collected multiple hits, but the Hornets fell to the Jackson State Tigers 5-4 Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Hornets got on the board immediately, starting their scoring with one run in the top of the first inning. Alabama State scored twice, with one run coming across on junior Alexia Denby's single.

The Tigers then gained ground, narrowing the lead to 2-1 until the Hornets expanded their advantage in the second. Alabama State scored once on an RBI single off the bat of senior Jaeda Gardner, which brought the Hornets lead to 3-1.

Alabama State's lead had evaporated by the time the sixth inning came around and turned into a 5-3 Jackson State advantage, when the Hornets cut that deficit to 5-4. The Hornets scored once on an RBI single off the bat of Gardner. The Hornets were unable to get any closer, as neither team scored again in the ballgame.
