WACO, Texas | The Alabama State University women's basketball fell 90-36 to the No. 14/16 Baylor Bears on the road Tuesday.
Kaitlyn Bryant led the Lady Hornets (2-6) with 11 points. Ny'Keria Flowers added six points and two steals and Taylor Smith helped out with three points.
The Alabama State forced 16 Baylor turnovers. Those takeaways turned into eight points on the offensive end of the floor. Flowers' two steals led the way individually for the Lady Hornets.
How It Happened
Alabama State struggled out of the gate, falling behind 24-7 at the end of the first quarter and faced a 53-17 halftime deficit.
Baylor continued to increase its lead after halftime, building a 61-17 advantage before Alabama State went on a 7-0 run, punctuated by a basket from Bryant, to trim its deficit to 61-24 with 6:13 to go in the third. Baylor countered and stretched its lead to 76-28 heading into the fourth. Alabama State turned three offensive rebounds into four second chance points on the way to scoring 11 total points in the quarter.
Alabama State could not pull any closer in the fourth, losing by a final of 90-36.
