TROY, Ala. | Junior Brooke Ramsey drove in three runs for Alabama State University softball its opening game of the Cardinal Classic to Southeast Missouri State 14-3 on Friday.

Senior Ashley Pye (0-1) started and took the loss in the circle for Alabama State (0-6).

At the plate, the Hornets were led by Ramsey, who went 1-for-3 on the day with three RBI. Junior Alana Scott furnished a noteworthy day at the dish as well, going 1-for-3 with a double.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Trailing 8-0, the Hornets first put runs on the board in the fifth inning. Alabama State picked up three runs in the frame. The Hornets were unable to get any closer, as Southeast Missouri State added six runs to their tally on the way to a 14-3 final.
