MONTGOMERY, Ala. | The Alabama State University men's tennis team won 4-0 over. Mississippi Valley State to open play in the SWAC POD II at the Olean Black Underwood Tennis Center on Thursday. 

ASU won its fifth straight match to improve 10-8 overall and 4-0 in the SWAC.

Matteo Lataste and David J Grandinot teamed up for a win at No. 2 doubles to give ASU a 1-0 lead heading into singles play. 

Matis Amier coupled with defaults on court five and six sealed the match for the Hornets.

Alabama State is set to battle Prairie View A&M on Friday at 2 p.m.
