NEW ORLEANS, La. | Alabama State University women's tennis quest for a second straight SWAC Tennis title fell short in a 4-3 semfinal loss to Florida A&M on Saturday.
Florida A&M won 2-of-3 doubles matches to take a 1-0 lead into singles.
Melisa Mekic, Cleanne Pickel and Kemat El Tawil won on courst two, four and five to tie the match 3-3.
FAMU's Sara Rakim won a three-set nailbitter 6-4, 7-6 (7-4) and 6-1 to help the Rattlers advance.
ASU closes its season out with a 13-9 record.
FAMU will face Jackson State on Sunday at 10 a.m. for the SWAC Championship.
