MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Alabama State University men's tennis opened its 2026 home slate on Friday with a 7-0 loss to Samford University at the Olean Black-Underwood Tennis Center.
Samford (1-1) secured the doubles point by winning all three matches before carrying that momentum into singles play, where the Bulldogs claimed victories on all six courts. Alabama State fell to 1-2 on the season.
In doubles action, Samford's teams of Sandeep Mohandoss and Darcy Nicholls, Sebastian Harrison and Vittorio Sardinha, and Lukas Dvorak and Cooper Errey each posted wins to take an early 1-0 advantage.
Singles play saw Mohandoss defeat Milan Ristov on Court 1, while Nicholls earned a straight-sets win over Martin Catrice at No. 2. Harrison followed with a victory at No. 3, and Hayden Menon closed out a tightly contested match at No. 4, edging Flor De Sitter in a third-set tiebreak. Samford also picked up wins at the fifth and sixth positions to complete the sweep.
Samford hosts Auburn-Montgomery on Jan. 30 at 1 p.m. at the Olean-Black Underwood Tennis Center.
