MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Alabama State got contributions from every part of their lineup, as all nine starters reached base safely, helping the Hornets put 10 runs on the board and take down the University of Southern Indiana 10-2 Sunday.
Amanda Cintron (1-0) started in the circle and picked up her first career win in the circle for Alabama State (2-2). The right-hander went six innings, giving up two runs, both of them earned, on five hits, allowing two walks and striking out two.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Hornets got the scoring started early, putting one run on the board in the bottom the first inning with the game still scoreless.
The Screaming Eagles failed to push any runs across before the Hornets built on their lead in the third inning. The Alabama State offense exploded for four runs, highlighted by a two-run single off the bat of Jaibriel Terrell and a two-run double from T. Bruss, which brought the score to 7-0 in favor of the Hornets.
Southern Indiana narrowed Alabama State's lead to 7-2 before the Hornets stretched the advantage to 10-2 in the sixth inning. The score remained 10-2 for the rest of the game, as Alabama State coasted to the win.
