MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Alabama State University's women's bowling team secured wins over Florida A&M and Southern on Friday to advance to the winners' bracket final of the 2026 SWAC Women's Bowling Tournament.

The Hornets will face regular-season champion Jackson State on Saturday at 1 p.m.

Alabama State opened bracket play with an 885-860 victory over Florida A&M, then followed with a tightly contested 960-956 win over Southern to remain unbeaten on the day.

In the win over Florida A&M, Alabama State posted a balanced team effort to pull away late, while the Hornets edged Southern by just four pins in one of the closest matches of the tournament.

Individually, Alabama State dominated the standings, placing five bowlers among the top six after Day 1.

Jenna Knight led the field with a two-game total of 456 (224, 232) for a tournament-best 228.0 average. Olivia Miller ranked third overall with a 382 total (187, 195), averaging 191.0.

Nevaeh Williams placed fourth with a 358 total (198, 160), followed by Taylor Lee in fifth at 348 (160, 188). Nikia Thomas rounded out the Hornets' top performers in sixth place with a 346 total (191, 155).

As a team, Alabama State showcased depth and consistency, a key factor in advancing through the winners' bracket.
