MONTGOMERY, Ala. | The Alabama State University softball team fell to Bethune-Cookman 9-0 on Friday at the Barbara Williams Softball Complex.
BCU pitcher Mia Gonzalez carried a no-hitter into the fifth inning, finishing the contest with a two-hit shut oout.
In the batter's box, the Hornets were paced by Talee Sims, who went 1-for-2 on the day.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Alabama State managed one chance with runners on third in the shutout, going a total of 0-for-4 with runners in scoring position. The Hornets last got a runner on third in the fifth, when Jayla Stewart made it 60 feet away from scoring with two outs.
GAME NOTES
» Sims led the Hornets at the plate, going 1 for 2.
» Bethune-Cookman was led offensively by Zariah Billinger, who went 2 for 2 with a double and two RBI
» Gonzalez led the Wildcats pitching staff, throwing five scoreless innings.
