De’One Gregg, a native of Birmingham (Ala.), enters his seventh year as the head cheer coach and mascot coordinator.
In his first six years at Alabama State, he started the first-ever cheer camp and clinic for school-age cheerleaders. He also choreographed the first competition routine for ASU, and under Gregg the ASU Cheerleaders entered their first cheerleading competition. They also placed first at the Regional Southeast Cheer Competition in Montgomery, and placed second at the HBCU Cheer & Dance Nationals Competition in Atlanta.
Gregg has over 20 years of cheerleading experience; working for the National Cheerleaders Association, Cheer-One All-Stars, Armory Gymnastics, and Bama Blaze Elite. He is also a two-time national Cheersport champion.
Prior to coming to Alabama State, he coached at Lee High School, Southlawn Middle School, and Carver High School. In addition to cheering at Alabama State, he also cheered for the ACE All-Stars of Alabama and the Cobra All-Stars of Georgia.
He is also a well-known choreographer, cheer music producer, Zumba instructor, and an English Teacher.
Gregg graduated from A.H. Parker High School, and is a 2004 graduate of Alabama State University where he was a cheerleader.
