Kelsey Baker enters her first year at Alabama State as an assistant softball coach during the 2021-22 academic year.

Baker comes to Alabama State from Huntingdon College where she served as a pitching coach and a multitude of other roles including assisting in the overall development of student-athletes as players, students, and progressive citizens and on the field duties included pitching coach, field maintenance, creating practice plans, and assisting in the day-to-day responsibilities of managing 30 plus student athletes. During her tenure with the Hawks, she coached three pitchers who earned all-conference honors along with several all-conference performers in other positions – five First Team members and ten Second Team members.
 
Prior to her time at Huntingdon, she served on staff at Georgia Highlands for a year beginning in October of 2015.
 
She began her collegiate coaching career as a student assistant at her alma mater Paine College where she created practice schedules and helped call and chart pitchers amongst other duties.
 
During her playing career with the Lions, Baker was named to the All-Conference Academic Team and the President’s list twice along with being a Merit Scholar. She also earned multiple accolades for her individual play before graduating Summa Cum Laude in 2014.
 
Prior to finishing her career at Paine, Baker player her first two years at Cleveland State Community College, where she not only was named to the honor roll but was also named a recipient of the Dr. George L. Mathis Scholastic Achievement Award.
