Majesty Tutson is an assistant coach with the Alabama State University track and field program working with the throwers.
She began working with the program in 2014 as a graduate assistant coach. During her tenure, she helped the Hornets to three Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) indoor conference championships, three SWAC outdoor championships and a pair of cross country championships. In addition, she coached four individual SWAC champions, 16 individual all-conference competitors, and a pair of school record holders in both the men’s shot put and weight throw.
After working with the team as a graduate assistant, Tutson continued to work with the team as the assistant throws coach and will be returning for her fifth year as assistant coach for the 2020-2021 season.
Tutson has helped lead the team to a total seven outdoor SWAC conference championships, 11 indoor SWAC conference championships, and five SWAC cross country championships. She has also coached a total of 12 individual conference champions, 40 individual All-Conference competitors, and four school record holders.
Tutson received her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Iowa, where she was an All-American discus thrower (2013). She was also a four-time regional qualifier (women’s discus 2009-2013), two-time BIG 10 runner up (women’s discus 2012, 2013), Drake relays champion (women’s discus 2013) and named most valuable competitor for the U of Iowa women’s track and field team (2013).
She is a two-time Alabama State alumni (2016 and 2019), obtaining a pair of Master’s degrees. She recently finished her Master’s in Accountancy in May of 2019.
