Alex Poole was named the Associate Athletic Director of Sports Performance at Alabama State University in February 2026. 

Poole  leads the development and implementation of comprehensive strength and conditioning programs designed to enhance performance, reduce injury risk, and support long-term athlete development.

Prior to Alabama State, Coach AP served as the Senior Associate Director of Athletic Performance at the University of Tulsa, working with football student-athletes and overseeing speed development and return-to-play systems within a high-performance environment.

In addition to his collegiate experience, Coach AP operates a private performance training facility in Houston, Texas, where he works with athletes across multiple levels, focusing on movement efficiency, athletic development, and performance enhancement.

Earlier in his career, Coach AP served as the Director of Sports Performance for Renegades and Houston Juniors Volleyball Club and as an Assistant Strength Coach at Furman University, where he was responsible for speed development and return-to-play protocols. He also 

Coach AP holds a master's degree in human performance from Texas Southern University, with a bachelor's degree in kinesiology from Texas College, and is certified through the NSCA (CSCS) and as a Running Mechanics Professional (Level 1 & Level 2). His coaching philosophy emphasizes intent-driven training, attention to detail, and creating high-performance environments that translate directly to competition. He places a strong emphasis on speed development, specializing in building faster, more explosive, and more efficient athletes whose performance carries over directly to game-day success.
