Alicia Wilson

Alicia Wilson, who was announced as the second Head Coach in program history on March 24, 2025, enters her first season in 2025 as Alabama State University's Head Women's Soccer Coach. 

Wilson brings 15 Years of coaching experience, coming to ASU after 10 seasons at Navarro College and five seasons at the University of West Florida. Wilson also had a short stint with the Jamaica Women’s Senior National Team in the 2020 Concacaf Olympic Qualifying Tournament, Edinburg, Texas, and the KR U18 in Iceland.

Wilson enjoyed a decorated college and professional playing career. The 2001 Gulf Coast Athletic Conference (GCAC) Player of the Year was a four-time National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA), NAIA All-American, and a four-time All GCAC performer at William Carey University in Hattiesburg, MS. She then spent six years playing professional in Iceland and Costa Rica and over 14 years playing on the Jamaican national team, representing the island country in qualifying tournaments and serving as team captain.

Wilson graduated with a bachelor’s degree psychology from William Carey University in 2005 and was awarded her master’s degree in exercise science from the University of West Florida in 2007.

Wilson is married to Oscar Lopez, who will work with the goalkeepers and defensive units. They two daughters ages 16 and 12 who also plays soccer for Sting Dallas Black in Dallas, Texas.

  • Worked with the UWF women’s soccer team from 2005-2007 as a graduate assistant. During that time, the Argos went 50-9-5 and 26-0 in the Gulf South Conference. Returned to UFW in 2013 to 2014 and accrue a record of 30-7-3 as the First Assistant Coach at UWF.
  • Navarro winning record of 60-18-10 (2020-2024) and 70-21-4 (2015-2019)
  • Ranked in the NJCAA top 10 almost every season
  • Produced back-to-back region 14 MVP’s
  • Coach over 11 All-Americans and over 50 all region players
  • Provide several players the opportunity to go on to prominent 4-year schools
  • Provides several players the opportunity to play professional soccer after university
14 years of International and Professional and Collegiate playing experience
  • Captain of the Jamaica Women’s National Team (2004, 2014)
  • Selected in Concacaf Best 18 in 2004 Olympic Qualifying tournament in Costa Rica
  • Acquired over 60 caps for Jamaica
  • Selected best XI in the Icelandic Women’s League 2006,2007
  • Icelandic Cup Champions in 2007
  • W-League Champion in 2005 with the NJ Wildcats
  • National Player of the week twice with Ashville Splash
  • Inducted into the William Carey University Hall of Fame in 2019
