Jamie McQueen

Jamie McQueen was named the Director of Sports Medicine  at Alabama State University in August 2024. She has been on staff here since June 2024. Before her roles here began, she spent three years at Huntingdon College, her Alma Mater (HC Class of 2017), where she served as an assistant athletic trainer for 9 sports teams. 

The Birmingham, Alabama, native attended graduate school where she obtained her masters in athletic training from Samford University and was an outreach athletic trainer at Spain Park High School in Hoover, AL from 2019-2021.

During her 6 years of service to the profession, she has shared her knowledge and love of the profession with all she comes in contact with, helping spread advocacy to those wishing to enter the field of athletic training. She has been a graduate student preceptor for 5 years and served as the co-coach of the Presidential Scholars - Sports Medicine Program during her Huntingdon College athletic training tenure.

Jamie’s area of expertise is concussions and concussion management, which she attributes back to her Huntingdon College Senior Capstone project on Concussion Education Awareness. She went on to present her research at the Southeastern American College of Sports Medicine (SEACSM). She also completed her immersive experience in graduate school with UAB’s Concussion Clinic under the direct supervision of Dr. Sara Gould and Dr. Kenny McCollough.  

During my her time at Huntingdon, she was a catcher for the Hawks softball team, chaplain of Phi Mu Theta Kappa, and President of the SSPE EXPERTS Club. 

Jamie is married to Justin McQueen. They have two fur babies, Leia and Gunner, and are expecting their first child this Christmas.
