Rosbie Mutcherson Jr. enters his first season on the Alabama State University men's basketball staff.

Mutcherson came to Alabama State after a brief stint at Central Georgia Tech College. The Titans finished the regular season with the best record in school history at 24-7 and won the regular season title, going an impressive 16-1 in conference. He has had previous assistant stops at Utah Valley and Idaho State University.

Mutcherson played a key role in Utah Valley’s success during his time on staff, helping guide the Wolverines to a combined 41 wins over the past two seasons. In 2024–25, he helped lead UVU to a 25-9 record, a dominant 15-1 mark in WAC play, and the outright WAC regular-season championship—the program’s fourth overall and second outright title. The Wolverines earned the No. 1 seed in the WAC Tournament, advanced to the championship game for the first time in program history and earned their third-ever berth to the National Invitation Tournament (NIT). UVU also finished the year undefeated at home (12-0) for the first time in program history.

Mutcherson came to UVU after working two seasons as an assistant coach at Idaho State. Mutcherson’s duties at Idaho State included scouting, recruiting, social media, guard development, community engagement, video operations, and NCAA eligibility. He was also a name, image, and likeness liaison. 
 
Prior to his time at Idaho State, Mutcherson was the director of video operations for the Cleveland State men’s basketball program. He helped the Vikings to a Horizon League regular season championship. The Vikings also won the Horizon League Tournament and earned a spot in the 2021 NCAA Tournament for the third time in school history and the first since 2009.
 
In 2019-20, Mutcherson joined the Salt Lake Community College (SLCC) as an assistant coach. While at SLCC, Mutcherson worked with the guards and served as the team’s offensive coordinator. The Bruins finished the 2019-20 season with an impressive 29-4 record and a region championship. The Bruins earned the No. 4 overall seed at the NJCAA Tournament.
 
Mutcherson also worked two seasons as an assistant coach at Northwest Florida State College. In his three years at the NJCAA level, Mutcherson helped maintain a 100% graduation rate. He was also part of two NJCAA Elite Eight appearances, three straight region/conference championships, three NJCAA First Team All-American selections, and one National Player of the Year. 
 
The Martinez, Ga., native played collegiately at Covenant College in Lookout Mountain, Ga., where he earned his bachelor’s degree in interdisciplinary studies. He also earned a master’s degree in business administration from Crown College in 2019.
