Lady Hornets Fall in Non-conference Matchup

NORFOLK, Va. -- The Alabama State University volleyball team dropped a non-conference match to Norfolk State Wednesday night.

Alabama State (5-14) fell to the Spartans (3-15) in front of 83 fans at Echols Gym.

“Our defense hurt us tonight,” said Assistant Coach Al'lisa Hale. “We were out-dug 44-28 and that was the difference. Last week, we were on defensively. We have to be able to put both sides of the game together so we can move forward and keep getting better.”

State hit .024 for the match with 18 kills. Senior Jessica Holt and junior Kelyse Hall led the team with five kills each.  Junior Althea Russell and Talyah Mueller added three kills each in the loss.

The Lady Hornets continue their road trip, traveling to Southern University where they will participate in the SU Invitational beginning Friday.
