Montgomery — Wearing PINK clothing Saturday to show support for the fight against breast cancer is the rallying cry from the Alabama State women's basketball team as its members ask all ASU fans and tri-county residents to join them in raising awareness against this curable disease at their annual Pink Zone initiative.
The Pink Zone event is being held at 3 p.m. on Valentine's Day – Saturday, Feb. 14 –
at the ASU Acadome as the Lady Hornets play in-state rivals Alabama A&M.
The Women Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) began the WBCA Pink Zone™, initiative, formerly known as "Think Pink," in 2007 as a way to raise breast cancer awareness.
In 2007, more than 120 schools helped make the inaugural event a success. In 2008, more than 1,200 teams and organizations participated, reaching 830,000 fans and raising more than $930,000 for breast cancer awareness and research.
The Lady Hornets know the only way this year's Pink Zone initiative will be successful is if you participate, so put on the pink and help defeat breast cancer in your lifetime!
