BATON ROUGE, La. – The Alabama State University Soccer team split this weekend on their road swing to the states of Mississippi and Louisiana. Friday against Jackson State, a second half goal that was deflected turned into the net, turned out to be the only score that was needed. 1-nill was the final as ASU fell to the lady tigers.
Today at Southern University, The lady Hornets were able to turn things around by dropping The Lady Jaguars 4-1. “Anytime you're on the road, you'd always like to at least get 50%”. ASU head coach Jodie Smith said. Dropping Friday's game was very hard, but I was proud of how the girls were able to put that behind them today”.
Danielle Miller led ASU with two goals, Alexandria Ayers and Lenna Lamas each scored one goal apiece to round out the scoring. Dominique Humphrey, Lena Lamas, Alexandria Ayers and Heather Sherman each had one assist on the day.
Alabama State Soccer closes out the regular season with a pair of weekend matches at home. They'll host Mississippi Valley State Friday at 7 pm and Alcorn State on Sunday at 1 pm for senior day. Admission to all ASU soccer games is free.
