FINAL STATS
Orangeburg, S.C.—Alabama State's three game win streak was snapped by South Carolina State falling, 3-0 (25-13, 25-21,26-24), in a non-conference match-up.
Bama State dragged in the opening set of the match not being able to answer the Bulldogs, holding the Lady Hornets to only 13 points.
Sets two and three for the Lady Hornets brought about an awakening spirit setting up an 11-7 lead over the Bulldogs. Both teams exchanged side-outs over the next few points before SC closed the match defeating ASU 25-21 in set two and 26-24 in set three ending the match 3-0.
“The ladies played really well and hard in games two and three,” said Head Coach Sonia Price. “We just can't closed our games out the way we should, I feel as though these ladies can play against anybody.”
Alabama State was led offensively by Asia Manning with seven kills while Brena Wheeler, Ana Pego and Roselande Corneille each picked up seven digs in the loss.
Alabama State will return to action Thursday when they host Albany State at 6 p.m. in Lockhart Gymnasium. The ladies will close out the week on Saturday with a Southwestern Athletic eastern division match-up against Jackson State University, match time is set for 3 p.m.
