ASU SOCCER'S HISTORIC SEASON COMES TO AN END

ASU SOCCER'S HISTORIC SEASON COMES TO AN END

Pine Bluff, Ark- In a season that shattered several records for the Alabama State University Soccer team, it all came to an end at the Southwestern Atlantic Conference Soccer Championships on Friday.  The Lady Hornets fell to Jackson State in the semi-finals today 3-0.

Patricia Cartwright scored on two first half goals and Rochelle Moncrieffe put in a corner kick for The Lady Tigers.  Chelsea Nash led ASU with seven saves.  It was tough for The Lady Hornets to manufacture anything offensively as they were outshot 14-0 with ten of those being shots on goals.

“We have a lot to be proud of and we certainly got a lot accomplished this season”.  Said head coach Jodie Smith.  “We didn't play up to our potential today but getting to the tournament gives us a foundation to build on”.

Alabama State Soccer ends their season with a record of 6-12 which is the most wins in the school's history.  In addition, this season was the first time that ASU has ever advanced to the semifinal round of the SWAC Tournament.  The Lady Hornets will remain off until spring practice in March.
