Lady Hornets Fall at Home
MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Alabama State University ladies basketball team dropped to 1-6 following a 57-45 loss to Savannah State from the Dunn-Oliver Acadome. The loss puts the lady hornets on a five game losing streak.
Savannah State led 20-7 with 12:13 to go in the first half. ASU went on a 14-6 run of their own to help trim down the margin. At the half, the lady hornets were only behind by seven points (28-21). Early In the second half, hot shooting by the lady tigers quickly put them ahead by 14 points.
Tanika Jackson led ASU with 14 points and eight rebounds. Angelese Hunter and Millicent Jones both chipped in 10 points apiece. Together they pulled down eight and seven rebounds respectively. Ezine Kalu led all scorers for Savannah State 21 points and Courtney Long finished with 18 point on the night.
Next up for ASU will host a double-header with Oakwood. The women will tip-off at 4 pm and the men will follow shortly after from the Dunn-Oliver Acadome.
