Montgomery, Ala. – The Alabama State soccer team fell short to Grambling State this afternoon 1-0 in Grambling, La.
GSU's Amila Omerovic scored on a penalty kick in the 47th minute of the match to seal the deal for the Lady Tigers.
The Lady Hornets had a couple of shots on goal in the game, which hit off the bars by junior midfielders
Lenna Lamas and
Franka Schauss, but couldn't find the back of the nets.
“We played hard, but gave up that goal on a penalty kick which cost us the game,” said head coach
Jodie Smith.
With the loss, Alabama State falls to 1-13-1 overall and 0-2 in SWAC play.
ASU is set to travel to Arkansas Pine-Bluff to face the Lady Lions Sunday, October 16. The game is slated for 1 p.m.
