LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – The Alabama State University football team had its Friday afternoon walkthrough here before playing its final road game of the season against the University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff.
The Hornets (6-2 overall, 6-1 in the Southwestern Athletic Conference) will face UAPB (4-4, 3-3) at 2:30 p.m. at Golden Lion Stadium. The game will be broadcast live on WVAS 90.7 FM.
Alabama State arrived in Arkansas late Thursday night, and had their walkthrough at War Memorial Stadium Friday. Coming off the first loss in almost two months, head coach
Reggie Barlow is eager to see how his team responds.
“We have a loose group as usual,” Barlow said Friday afternoon. “The attention to detail was there, as it usually is on Friday. The guys are enjoying the fact that we are here. I'm looking forward to seeing them compete tomorrow and see how they redeem themselves.”
Last week, the Hornets faced their largest deficit of the season, falling behind 17-0 early in the first half. Barlow will look for an energetic start from his team Saturday.
“It has to start in the pre-game warmups,” Barlow said. “I'll be watching intently how they warm up and if I don't see the energy level, then I'll be concerned. Last week we dug ourselves into deep hole early. This week, we need to start fast.”
