Under a sun-drenched, cloudless sky, the Third Annual Reggie Barlow Golf Tournament was held Saturday at Lagoon Park Golf Course.
More than 60 golfers participated in the event which saw 12 of the 15 teams shoot under par.
“God blessed us with some nice weather, and it was a great turnout for us with both players and sponsors,” Barlow said. “It's about the camaraderie and at the end of the day, being able to add something to our football program. Each year the golf tournament is getting bigger and bigger. Having it on a Saturday for the first time proved to be the best way to go.”
The team of John Bricken, Harry Hardwick, Mike Hamrick and Scott Steen shoot 57. The group of LaBarron Boone, Derrick Dean, Quincy Leonard and Undra Jones won a five-way tie second at 58.
“We had a lot of 58s on the scoreboard so that means we have a lot of good golfers playing,” Barlow said. “A lot of alumni of our school are good golfers here in the city, both men and women. It's good to have that type of competition out here with everyone having a chance to win.”
