Box Score The Alabama State soccer team defeated the Grambling State Tigers 4-0 Sunday afternoon at the ASU Soccer Complex.
“It's a plus to get back on the winning side,” head coach
Jodie Smith. “We came out and did some nice things but weren't patient enough on the offensive end. It's hard to say that when we scored four goals and had a shutout, but we could have played much better both offensively and defensively.
Despite a slow start, sophomore forward
Alexandria Cannon scored the first goal of the match for ASU in the 31
st minute off an assist from freshman forward

Cannon scored the third goal for the Lady Hornets in the 41
st minute, assisted by junior defender

Lamas capped the scoring for ASU in the 71
st minute off an assist from freshman midfielder
Kaedi Walther.
Alabama State (5-6-2) outshot the Lady Tigers 27-4. Sophomore goalkeeper
Kylee Hathaway had three saves in the match.
The Lady Hornets will travel to face Jackson State Friday, October 19 at the JSU Soccer Complex. The match is slated 4 p.m.
“Different experience for us now,” said Smith. “We have a fairly young team and now we're going on the road to face last year's division champions Jackson State, so we'll have to deal with a little adversity, but we'll prepare and continue to work hard practicing throughout the week.”
