MONTGOMERY—The Alabama State University football team held their final practice of 2012 as they put the last touches on their game preparation for the 89
th Turkey Day Classic against Tuskegee University.
The team held a brief workout at the NEW ASU Stadium. Even though there was some late work being done, a lot of visitors walking through looking at the surroundings and TV stations set up doing their live shots, the Hornets did one thing and that was stay focused on tomorrow's game.
“I think the guys are focused,” Head Coach
Reggie Barlow said. “These guys have been playing since August and I think they are committed to the cause. It's a new venue and I think they will be excited to come here and play. For a lot of them it is their last game.”
The excitement of playing in a new stadium that the Hornets can all their own will be great for the team, and the fans will bring added excitement and atmosphere, but when it gets down to the game it still comes down to Alabama State vs. Tuskegee and all the rest has to be blocked out.
“As players whenever you play out here on the rectangle it's about the rectangle,” Barlow said. “All of the outside factors don't phase you. There may be a young player that will probably be distracted, but for the most part these guys understand once we kick it off it is a football game.”
The kick off is scheduled for 3 p.m. and will be shown live on ESPNU. The game can also be heard on WVAS FM 90.7. For more information on tomorrow's game, check the Game Day Central at
