Lady Hornets Visit the Delta to Face Devilettes

The Alabama State women's basketball team traveled to Itta Bena, Miss. to take on Mississippi Valley in their second round of SWAC Play.  Tip-off time is set for 2:00 p.m. at the Jesse Harrison HPER Complex.

The Lady Hornets are on a two game win streak and look to continue its streak as Mississippi Valley (10-10, 7-2) sits atop of the Southwestern Athletic Conference in the #1 spot.

Alabama State enters tomorrow's contest 8-10 overall and 5-4 in conference play after a two game home stance win over Prairie View A&M and Texas Southern.  The Lady Hornets throttled Texas Southern last Saturday in the Dunn-Oliver Acadome, 68-47.

Mississippi Valley's last contest came against Grambling State as they defeated the Tigers 63-55 in Itta Bena this past Monday night.

The last time these two teams met ASU edged over Mississippi Valley 65-62 in the Dunn-Oliver Acadome earlier in the season.

“This is another big game for us,” said Head Coach Freda Freeman-Jackson.  “We beat Valley at our place the last time, but at the same time Valley has been playing really good basketball, and they are in first place in the conference at this time.  Every time we come to Miss. Valley it's really tough, and our work is cut out for us.  But our intentions are to come in and knock them out of first place.”
