The dedication of the Wheeler-Watkins Baseball Complex Friday highlights a busy week in Alabama State Athletics.
The Alabama State women's and men's basketball teams will continue their three-game road trip this week with games at Arkansas-Pine Bluff Monday and at Alabama A&M Saturday. The Hornet women's and men's tennis teams play home matches Friday against Jacksonville State and Saturday against Kennesaw State and Alabama A&M. The ASU women's and men's indoor track teams will compete in Clemson, S.C. The Lady Hornets softball team open their 2012 season playing in the Auburn Tournament.
BASEBALL: The dedication of the Wheeler-Watkins Baseball Complex will be held Friday at 1:30 p.m. The complex is named for former ASU Baseball Coaches Herbert “Hot Dog” Wheeler and Larry “Toy Cannon” Watkins, only the second and third coaches in the history of Hornet Baseball.
WOMEN'S / MEN'S BASKETBALL: The ASU basketball teams will look to get back on the winning track with a Monday night doubleheader at UAPB before travelling to face archrival Alabama A&M Saturday afternoon.
WOMEN'S / MEN'S INDOOR TRACK: The ASU indoor track teams will compete Friday and Saturday in the Tiger Paw Invitational.
SOFTBALL: The Lady Hornets will open the 2012 season playing games in the Auburn Invitational Thursday – Sunday.
WOMEN'S / MEN'S TENNIS: The Hornet tennis teams play at home for the first time in 2012 with matches Friday vs. Jacksonville State and a Saturday doubleheader vs. Kennesaw State and Alabama A&M.
