Box Score Alabama State defeats Alcorn State 3-0 (25-10, 25-5, 25-13) in a Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) volleyball game held in Montgomery, Ala. as they celebrated Senior Night.
Amber Bennett led the Lady Hornets with 15 kills and
Chelsey Scott added eight as ASU moved to 21-14 on the year and continued their undefeated record at 8-0 in SWAC action.
"My girls came out and fought as we were ready to wrap up the season," said head coach Penny Lucas-white. Â "They finished strong and everybody got to play so I'm very excited."
ASU jumped out to a quick 10-3 lead in the first set and went up 14-3 in the second set on their way to the 2-0 lead.
The third set saw Alcorn (2-24/0-8 SWAC) keeping it close with several ties. With the set even at seven, the Lady Hornets went on to build a 20-10 score, winning the set.
ASU hit .407 for the game as the defense held Alcorn to  -.095 hitting percentage for the match. This win gives the team the record for most wins in a season with 21, since 1993 Keith Edwards era.
"Its pretty exciting to reach this milestone of 21 wins in a season and going into the conference tournament undefeated," Lucas-White said. Coach White had one thing to say about next weekends tournament and that was "We're ready."
The Lady Hornets will prepare for the Southwestern Athletic Conference Tournament held in Jackson, Miss. November 23-24.
